COMPOSER Matthias G. Monn - SEIBOLD Online-Analyser for Cyanide
Interaction of many different instruments probably is no better arranged than by composers. An online
-analyser requires a perfect concerto of the disciplines chemistry, mechanics, pneumatics and electronics.
That is why our productline is named after well-known Viennese composers. In this articele we introduce
COMPOSER Matthias G. Monn, SEIBOLD Online-Analyser for Cyanide
Any chemical compound containing the cyano group -C=N with the carbon atom triple-bonded to the nitrogen atom is a cyanide (CN). The cyano-group can be found in various kinds of gaseous, liquid and solid compounds.

Typical fields of business encountering cyanide are the steel industry, gold and silver mining, production of tints and varnish, synthetic resins, synthetic fibres, electroplating, coal and crude oil production. For cyanide the guideline value for chemicals that are of health siginificance in drinking water according to World Health Organisation is 0.07 mg/litre as total cyanogenic compounds.

The measuring principle is based on the employment of an ion selective electrode (ISE) supporting a measuring rangem from 0.01 to 2.0 mg/l CN- and providing accuracy of
better than 3% based on full scale. A specific reagent is added to the sample for adjusting the ionic strength of the liquid to be measured. The measuring procedure varies for different applications and can be decided on the concentration of cyanide and interfering ions.

For analysis of potable water and water with low concentration of interfering ions, we strongly recommend using automated calibration. For analysis with high concentration of interfering ions and possible organic products of decomposition we further recommend using the option of „Known Addition“.

Matthias G. Monn (1717 – 1809)
Matthias G. Monn was born on April 9th, 1717 in Vienna and was composer, organist and musical educator of the Viennese Pre-Classicism. Due to his successful introduction of a side topic to symphony he ranks together with G.C. Wagenseil and Josef Starzer among the most important pioneers originating the rise and success of Viennese Classicism fifthy years later.
There is far less known about his life than his musical ideas - to befound in the records there is only his appointment as organist, at first in Klosterneuburg, later at Vienna Karlskirche. Matthias G. Monn was a formative member of the early Wiener Schule (School of Vienna) and a wanted tutor for composers.
His most famous student for sure was Johann Georg Albrechtsberger (1736-1809), another precursor of Viennese Classicism. The work of Matthias G. Monn comprises mainly 16 symphonies, various quartetts, sonatas, masses and compositions for violin and piano.
